Korea, I Corps Artillery, G2 Air

When I stepped into Korea I knew no one. I met many people, of all sorts, some friends, some only acquaintances. I never ran into anyone from my 'outside of Korea' life while I was there, except for one close friend. He was an F-86 pilot. (Back home we were classmates and used to to hunt, fly and double date together. We took the Air Force physical the same day. He passed.) We conversed on the air/ground radio two different times in Korea. He was my only link to the other side. When I left Korea, it was with a handshake and goodbye. I haven't seen nor heard about anybody since. They all disappeared. Thin air. My friend's F-86 went down in the Sea of Japan, he did not survive. DOOR CLOSED.

My year in Korea is ‘out of the box’ so to speak. A year that was neither good nor bad. Just a totally isolated year. A year I haven't really thought about at length for over fifty years.

And now I return.......Click on picture.
