Ed Skrivanic In 1950, when the United States entered the Korean War, the
United Service Organizations (USO) was called upon by Secretary
of Defense George C. Marshall and Secretary of the Navy Francis
P. Matthews to, once again, provide morale support to the men
and women of the armed forces. At the onset of the war, the USO was faced with the challenge
of providing support to more than 3.5 million military members
who were overseas and stateside. By the end of the war, there
were more than 113,000 American USO volunteers working
at 294 USO centers home and abroad. |

This is very interesting. Like you, I enjoyed the USO shows very much. I see Margaret Brown's name on the list and got to see her again when I returned to the states. She was dancing at the Baker Hotel in Dallas, and I was fortunate to have a quasi-date with her. She was a wonderful dancer and I have often wondereds about her activities since then. I had the lounge photog take a photo of us and I still have and cherish it. Wonderful site you have here and hope others will take a look at your historical photos. Thanks for your services for the US. God Bless.
